Team Management: 3 TOOLS WE (ACTUALLY) USE

“Team Management” is an umbrella term with a large canopy. It covers everything from administrative duties and daily tasks, to communication, project management, and more. For over a decade, technology has increasingly made working as a team more convenient, especially when working remotely. Now more than ever, utilizing simple, effective, digital tools has become crucial to maintaining a team that runs like a well-oiled machine.

Here are three tools that our Market Vision Media team uses to communicate, collaborate, and manage all the elements necessary to keep everything together, even when we can’t be together.

Monday.com

Monday.com is a project management tool that enables teams to manage tasks, timelines, and workflow communication. Fully customizable (with tons of bright colors and fun layouts), Monday is designed to accommodate a wide range of operations including media production, marketing, sales, and more, and offers a whole host of helpful features such as time tracking, automated notifications, and timeline views. Whatever your project objective may be, Monday.com has ready-made tabs and templates to help you get it all done, on time.

FreeAgent

FreeAgent is an online accounting software designed to easily meet the needs of small businesses. It has many great features that you’ll actually use including time and project tracking, invoice reminders, and a dashboard to monitor business performance.

It fabulously tackles day-to-day administration tasks such as managing expenses and payroll, creating and sending professional-looking estimates and invoices, keeping track of cash flow and profitability, and making sure you know who owes you money and how much, all without any prior accounting knowledge necessary. It also has a personalized “Tax Timeline” of upcoming deadlines and amounts due and, it’s super affordable.

No, you can’t marry the software. It’s software. Come on…

Dropbox

I know what you’re thinking: “Dropbox? Really?” Trust me; Dropbox may be one of the oldest cloud storage services in use today, but it’s also one of the most popular and an extensive period of relevancy is rarely a bad thing. Three cheers for longevity!

Dropbox is a cloud storage service, which, if you don’t already know, means you can copy your files to the cloud and access them at any time, from any connected device.

One key feature that keeps Dropbox in with the cool kids is the ease of sharing files. You control the permission levels and sharing for all your files and folders allowing specific people permissions, or you can make files public so anyone with the appropriate link can access the data. It’s a convenient way to share files without using email attachments and eliminates annoying “file size too large” errors. Dropbox also offers collaboration tools that allow teams to work together on documents, share notes, and edit in real-time.

Dropbox has major installation and integration compatibility, and no matter which version you use, everything is securely encrypted. The service also keeps a history of your files with versioning so you can recover them in the event of a malware catastrophe, accidental deletion, or if your ex decides to throw your laptop in a lake. Choose better next time.

And there you have it: three simple, yet powerful tools our team uses to keep being awesome. If you’re in a sharing mood, tell us what tools you use to effectively manage your team and all the epic projects you’re working on.
